ABOUT

Rani Messias is a filmmaker whose vision focuses on re-enchanting realities, by creating  visual worlds. Her body of work as a director and production designer spans from arthouse shorts to music videos and feature. Rani's storytelling  seeks to weave authentic people and spaces with the time of myth, and the aesthetics of dreams - often placing real characters within fictional, stylistic and ethereal compositions.

Graduated in Berlin's UFA Studios, and based between Berlin and Rio - Rani has assisted in productions ranging from India's Nagaland tribal villages with Ralf Schmerberg,  to fashion-driven music videos for Lenny Kravitz, from Amazonian indigenous villages in Brazil for Mothers of the Forest to set designing in German castles for feature film ''Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes'' starring Jeff Willbush. Her arthouse shorts for  Leo Kuelbs Collection, based on ancient myths from around the world - ''MING'', ''Silk'' and ''Eclipse'' - have been premiered at Made in NY Media Center by IFP in DUMBO, and Manhattan Bridge in NYC.

She continues exploring ways to create magic narratives through highly authentic realism.
